An insulated wood-framed roof was added to the top of Chapdelaine's warehouse.

As the ice damns grew and blocked water from Stony Brook in South Hadley, the water rose and threatned Chapdelained Home Furninshings Showcase and everything in it.  A. Crane crews showed up on scene and chopped the ice damns to let the water flow into the river and not into the store.
